Spiced Apple Martini. Stolichnaya vodka used to have a Gala Apple flavor that was usually available in the Fall. The Gala Apple flavor appears to be discontinued. One of my favorite martinis was made from that Gala Apple vodka. Oh well, change is good. Mostly.
Now that Autumn is upon us and the days are getting shorter, it’s a great time to take advantage of those spicy seasonal flavors. I’ve found that Dr. McGillicuddy’s Apple Pie liqueur is a good substitute for the Stoli Gala Apple vodka. The Apple Pie liqueur has a spicier flavor which adds a seasonal flair to the drink. Apple goes well with elderflower and lemon flavors. I use the elegant St. Germain elderflower liqueur and some fresh lemon juice in this martini.
Just add some ice to a cocktail shaker, add Stolichnaya plain vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, Dr. McGillicuddy apple pie liqueur, and the juice of half a lemon. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon or apple slice. And serve!
Also, see my non-alcoholic version of this beverage for my non-imbibing guests. My Spiced Apple Sparkler is a delight in itself. In a tall glass, pour Trader Joe’s Spiced Cider over ice cubes, squeeze in some fresh lemon juice and then top off with sparkling water. Garnish with a lemon or apple slice, or both.
Enjoy!
