Labeling genetically-modified organisms (GMO) is a hot topic right now — serious stuff! The State of California’s Proposition 37 mandates labeling of foods containing GMOs — unfortunately this proposition DID NOT PASS!
This chart from Cornucopia.org identifies those companies that are fighting against GMO labeling (on the left) and those companies that are supporting GMO labeling (on the right). Some of the brand names might surprise you. Also, note the amount of funding provided by each side to fight or support the action. Interesting.
It’s interesting, because growing up in California in the late 1960s and early 1970s, I don’t remember going to school with any kids who had food allergies. And now food allergies are so prevalent that adults have them, too. Hope to find out the causes soon.
And so sad to find out that Prop 37 didn’t pass in California. Nutiva posted this “food pyramid” on Facebook.
