Nutty Strawberry Banana Smoothie. Sometimes I’m in a bit of a hurry in the mornings, so I like to drink smoothies while I’m doing other things like feeding the dog. This tasty smoothie is uses strawberries, banana, pineapple, peanut butter, flaxmilk, coconut water, agave syrup and a dash of cinnamon. I’m also looking at a heart-healthy more plant-based diet where it makes sense for me and my husband. This smoothie is definitely plant-based.
And speaking of dogs, my dog Atticus just LOVES bananas and smoothies. Anytime I want him to come running, I just have to say, “Banana,” and he will appear in an instant. You can follow Atticus and his antics on his Facebook page: Atticus Beatty – Addy. Atticus will fuss until he gets a taste of smoothie.
This is a simple smoothie. Just throw all the ingredients into a blender or Vitamix and process until smooth. I like to use Trader Joe’s organic peanut butter which is made from ground organic peanuts only, no added sugar or other junk. If your fruit is naturally sweet, you won’t need to add sweetener.
Pour into a glass and serve!
Enjoy!

10 strawberries
1/2 banana
1 slice fresh pineapple
1 T peanut butter
1 c unsweetened flaxmilk
1/4 c coconut water
1/2 T agave syrup (optional)
dash of cinnamon
4 ice cubes
Optional protein powder (follow the container’s instructions for appropriate amount)
Method: Combine all ingredients in a Vitamix or Blender. Puree until smooth.
Makes one smoothie and a little bit to share with your dog.
Variations: Try almond milk instead of the flaxmilk. Use almond butter instead of peanut butter. Add your favorite fruits to the mix. You could use honey or Stevia in place of the agave syrup.
