Blue Cosmopolitan Cocktail. Everyone probably remembers the “Sex and the City” TV series where the traditional pink Cosmopolitan cocktail gained popularity. The four female friends were well known for their wardrobes as well as their taste in men. The original television series has spawned two movies so far.
Many of you know that I love an ocean-hued cocktail such as my Blue Hawaiian Cocktail. Perhaps an even more fitting cocktail, especially when vacationing at the beach, is the Blue Cosmopolitan Cocktail at Bluecoast restaurant in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Appropriately garnished with a red Swedish Fish gummy candy, the Blue Cosmopolitan Cocktail has a gorgeous deep ocean blue hue. It’s one of my favorite cocktails that I’ve enjoyed while on vacation. And now I’ve recreated it for my enjoyment at home.
My Blue Cosmpolitan Cocktail is made from vodka, blue-hued Blue Curacao liqueur, white cranberry juice, and just a splash of lime. It’s garnished with a red candy fish that you might remember from your childhood: Swedish Fish. Combine all ingredients except the Swedish Fish in a cocktail shaker and shake with some ice. Strain into a martini glass, garnish with the Swedish Fish, and serve! Use your favorite plain vodka. If you can’t find Blue Curacao liqueur (I prefer DeKuyper brand), you can use the clear Cointreau liqueur and a drop or two of blue food coloring. White cranberry juice is usually available in your local grocer’s bottled juice section.
Hope you enjoy my version of this pretty drink. *** And please remember to drink responsibly. ***
Enjoy!
