New Year’s Day Brunch is a tradition for many families. Perhaps you are having an open house to invite friends and neighbors, or maybe your New Year’s Eve guests have stayed overnight. On New Year’s Day, I like to keep it light with a few options on a nice buffet. Guests can nibble or indulge as they wish, and most of the items can stay on a chilled platter or inside a warmed chafing dish for an acceptable period of time. Of course, these buffet items just might disappear quicker than you expected!

This year, let’s start with some fruity martinis and move on to an antipasti platter, a cheese platter, and a vegetable frittata and a brown sugar ham and swiss quiche that can be served warm or cold. Select your favorite ingredients!

Set out some sliced baguettes and crackers to go with the antipasti and cheese platters. And of course, you can serve your favorite champagne, wine, coffee, tea or other beverages. Sparkling water is a nice addition to your drink offering, and might serve appropriate for those who imbibed too much on New Year’s Eve.

Easy Vegetable Frittata

Brown Sugar Ham and Swiss Cheese Quiche

Set out some nice napkins, flatware, plates, and glasses for your guests. Make the martinis in pitchers and keep chilled. Assemble the antipasti and cheese platters and offer along with small forks and knives.

The vegetable frittata and the brown sugar ham and swiss quiche can be cut into small wedges and served on a warmed or chilled platter. Or, make the frittata and quiche in large pans and let your guests do the cutting and serving themselves with serving knives and spatulas.
